Tips and Tricks to Get the Most Out of Your Netflix Subscription

Streaming services have become more popular over the last couple of years, and users are always looking for ways to get the best bang for their buck.

To help you out, we prepared a list of handy tips and tricks to help Netflix subscribers get the most out of their subscriptions.

1. Delete your streaming history

Netflix algorithm is designed to track your streaming preferences and suggest similar content in the future. Want to escape the echo chamber and widen your horizons? Delete your Netflix history and force the algorithm to offer fresh streaming ideas.

2. Download shows

Even though Netflix is primarily an online streaming service, it also has a download option. It can come in handy if you’re traveling and know you won’t have a stable internet connection. Remember that the download option is available only for specific titles and devices, and you also have a time limit on your downloads. Each download will “last” for a week, and you’ll have to download it again.

3. Don’t search for titles only

Can’t remember the name of the movie? No problem. You can search the Netflix library by actors, keywords about the plot, or a subcategory you think the film may fall into. You’ll be surprised by how smart the Netflix search option is. We all have that one movie we want to rewatch but don’t know how to find it. Typing any information related to the movie into the search bar can put you on the right track.

4. Use the “Play Something” Feature

Do you spend more time looking for a show than you would actually watch it? We feel you. Luckily, in 2021 Netflix introduced its “Play Something” feature that allows users to let the algorithm choose the next show or a movie for them. Bear in mind that, right now, the feature is available only on the TV or Android app.

5. Browse libraries from other countries

If you have a VPN, use it to make the most of your Netflix subscription. They have a geo-restriction policy that makes certain content unavailable in some parts of the world. Changing the location on your VPN app will automatically switch your Netflix library to the country your VPN server is located. The US Netflix library is known for having some of the best show and movie selections, and you can check other libraries depending on your streaming interests. For instance, Asian countries are known for having the widest selection of anime shows.

6. Use Netflix codes to find hidden gems

Netflix codes are a string of numbers assigned to different subgenres of shows and movies. If you add these codes to your URL bar, you’ll be able to browse the categories you didn’t even know existed. For instance, if you add the number 10504 at the end of the URL, Netflix will redirect you to the “Political thrillers” subgenre.

It’s easy to get lost among the countless new titles Netflix serves us every day. Use these pieces of advice to browse your Netflix library more thoroughly and find engaging content that meets all of your streaming expectations.
