10 of the Best Online Video Games

Online gaming has become the new norm over the past few years, with many of the biggest and best video game titles being based entirely online. Online gaming not only helps add content but also grows the community around a game faster than anything before.

If you have previously only dabbled in online games, here are 10 of the best ones that you need to play right now.

League of Legends

There are some online games that have always been popular and will always be popular; online poker, Minecraft, Warzone and League of Legends are but a few. LoL is a team-based game that sees opposing sides face off in a battle to destroy the other Nexus.

You play as a hero that has its own set of unique abilities and powers, which you must use to defeat your enemies. LoL is not only highly strategic but also relies heavily on teamwork and communication.

Warzone

Warzone is one of the best battle royales out there, and it isn’t hard to see why. It is simple to understand; you drop into a map and have to collect weapons, ammo and gear to survive. You must then defeat all of the other players on the map to be the last person standing and win the game.

Warzone is based on the world of Call of Duty, making it perfect for those who want to try a different version of the regular first-person shooter genre.

Apex Legends

Another battle royale, but with a twist, Apex Legends puts players into teams of three, with each of their characters having unique abilities that can help in battle. Apex was criticized at first for forcing the “three-player team” idea, but it has become one of the most interesting aspects of the game.

Counter-Strike

Counter-Strike is a classic first-person shooter/strategy game where teams play as either terrorists or counter-terrorists. One team needs to plant a bomb, while the other has to defuse it. However, defeating all of your opponents will also result in a victory.

CS is one of the most well-known games in the world and is a true test of strategy and skill, no matter how good you are or think you are!

Hearthstone

Hearthstone is an online collectible card game where players have to make decks filled with magic, monsters and soldiers and use them to defeat their opponents. If you are familiar with Magic: The Gathering, then Hearthstone will be right up your alley.

The game is also fairly easy to understand, with the skill coming in the form of deck-building and adapting your strategies depending on who you are playing.

Valorant

Valorant is another title similar to Counter-Strike, except each character has game-changing abilities and skills. The aim of the game is almost the same as CS, but players can use their character’s abilities to create strategies and plays.

Valorant also has a massive esports community nowadays, with many tournaments being held across the world throughout the year.

Rocket League

Rocket League is Fast & Furious meets FIFA! Players control cars which they use to try and score goals with a giant ball. There are boosts around the field to help with speed, and you can also get your car to do incredible flips and spins to aid in movement.

On the surface, Rocket League looks easy, but once you start playing, you realize you will need far more practice to even master the basics.

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is a rather unique online game as you take on the role of a pirate floating in the ocean. You must explore islands and collect treasure to upgrade your ship and weapons and then use them to fight off other players.

Fortnite

Fortnite is easily one of the biggest and most well-known games on the planet, and even though its initial excitement and popularity have died off, it is still just as fun to play. While it has elements of a standard battle royale, there are a couple of major differences. One of the biggest differences is that you have the ability to build in Fortnite. You can build as a way to move around the map, but most importantly, you can build as a way to out-maneuver your opponents to defeat them and protect yourself. Fortnite is one of the best games out there to test all of your BR and gaming skills.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege is another extremely popular online game, particularly with esports players and fans. It’s a first-person shooter like Counter-Strike, and each character has a set of abilities that can help attack or defend against enemies.

Rainbow Six is often criticized for being too difficult, but it’s fair to say that the challenge is all part of the fun! It’s a game that requires so much gaming knowledge and skill that even if you get battered every game, you can’t help but continue to play to get better. Also, if you’re nervous about getting involved in intense PVP multiplayer battles before you’re ready, the single-player PVE Situation mode and PVE Terrorist Hunt mode are two great ways to learn the game without too much pressure.
