Sony has no ambition to release its PC games on the same day as PS5. Jim Ryan, the boss of the PlayStation brand, says he is very satisfied with the current strategy of waiting a while before bringing his exclusives to the computer.

Sony is increasingly present in the PC world by bringing its flagship titles there. The latest is The Last of Us Part I, which sold out on Steam and the Epic Games Store just months after its release on PS5. A strategy that is not likely to change in the short termaccording to Jim Ryan’s own admission.
The boss of the PlayStation brand gave an interview to the Japanese magazine Famitsu and discussed the future of this policy. For him, it is currently out of the question to release the games on PC at the same time as on PS5. Console remains the priority for Sony exclusives.
Sony has found its cruising speed on PC
The view is simple: big exclusives sell PS5s. By releasing them at the same time on PC, this strategy loses all its meaning:
“We fully understand the importance of exclusive PS5 games. The responsibility of Sony studios is to make games that players enjoy for the latest machine stamped PlayStation. We will be increasing the number of PS5 exclusives and continuing to stagger the release of PC versions. I often have the opportunity to ask fans their opinion on the subject and when I ask them how they perceive the lag (between the PS4/PS5 and PC release), they often answer me that the release of the PC version two or three years after their initial commercialization is acceptable”.

In short, Ryan clearly states that all this is not about to change. Thus, players who do not want to invest in a PS5 will have to be patient. As a reminder, the first PS4-exclusive game to be ported to PC is Horizon Zero Dawn in 2020. Since then, several hits have been released on computers, such as Uncharted 4, Days Gone and God of War 2018.
