Acer Revo Box RN96, a mini-PC with a laptop engine

Acer Revo Box RN96 is a small desktop computer, but with a laptop heart. It’s powered by Intel’s Tiger Lake-U processors and with 32 Gbytes of RAM it should be powerful enough for most basic computing and entertainment tasks.

We like mini-PCs. Despite their compact size, they offer good connectivity and sufficient performance. They are machines that can be used for consumption, offices or living rooms, either on desks or those that have VESA support hanging on the wall or behind the monitors. Specifically, this model can be placed vertically or horizontally anywhere.

Acer’s latest compact weighs less than a kilogram and measures 181 x 178 x 33.5mm. supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, plus a LAN connector along with the following set of ports:

Inside, this Acer Revo Box RN96 uses Tiger Lake-U processors, with the possibility of mounting models such as the Core i3-1115G4 or the Core i5-1135G7, with four cores and eight threads with a working frequency of up to 4.2 GHz, with 8 Mbytes of cache. Its integrated graphics is an Intel Iris Xe up to 1.3 GHz. It can output content to two internal screens with 4K resolution simultaneously.

The manufacturer will offer configurations of 8, 16 or 32 Gbytes of DDR4-3200 RAM and for storage, an M.2 slot for 256 or 512 Gbyte SSDs, plus a 2.5-inch bay for those who want to increase capacity with disks. SATA hard drives or solid state drives up to 1 Tbyte.

It will pre-install Windows 10 (freely upgradeable to Windows 11) and will be available shortly in several European markets.
