Shortly after revealing the list of all the Macs that will arrive by the end of 2022, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has just announced which models will be powered by the new M2 chips, which are expected in select MacBook models later this year. According to him, these are not less than 9 devices that will use the new generation of chipe.

According to its sources, Apple will first launch its M2 chip in new MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini shortly after the release of the iPhone 14. As a reminder, the M2 chip will not be very different from the first generation. She will use 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, against 8 for the M1 chip. In addition to the performance gain on the graphics part, it is also expected to be even more energy efficient. Apple would also plan to unveil a model of Mac mini equipped with a more powerful M2 Pro chip.

The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros will use M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.

In 2023, Apple is expected to refresh its high-end MacBook Pro lineup with new 14- and 16-inch models powered by M2 chips. They would ship M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which will directly succeed the M1 Pro and M1 Max of current models. Mark Gurman clarifies that the M2 Max chip would carry a 12-core CPU (against 10 cores for the M1 Max) and a 38-core GPU (vs 32 cores), with 64 GB of unified memory.

Finally, we already knew that Apple had in the boxes a new Mac Prosince he had mentioned the device at the end of his spring 2022 conference. According to Mark Gurman, this power monster would be powered by the successor to the M1 Ultra processor, which we will name for the moment M2 Ultra. Here is a summary of all the models that Apple will equip with an M2 chip.
