Apple prepares another product with a USB-C port to accompany the iPhone 15

It was inevitable. Apple will fall into the clutches of USB-C portsince in addition to the rumored iPhone 15, it seems that the company will take advantage of the launch of the new device to present a new version of its compact noise canceling headphones.

Some new AirPods not so new

The Airpods Pro

As always, the latest rumors about Apple come from the hand of Mark Gurman himself, who through his newsletter has reported that Apple will introduce a new charging case for AirPods Pro with USB-C port taking advantage of the launch of the iPhone 15. This is something that coincides with the information that the famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo already shared in March, who pointed to the same detail, but could not specify if the new headphones would incorporate any new extra functionality.

Apparently, everything indicates that this will not be the case, since the new AirPods Pro could be technically quite similar to the current generation. That’s at least what Gurman claims, so don’t expect a new chip, new drivers, or big differences.

Software with news

But that does not imply that the software is not improved, and we already know that today an improvement in the software of a product can lead to major changes almost comparable to a change in hardware. It will be there where you will see news such as surprising hearing tests included in iOS 17which will serve to determine how well a person can listen.

A generational leap without surprises

It is therefore expected that the new generation of AirPods Pro will be models without too many changes, with the arrival of the USB-C port and some new features at the software level that the first generation models will probably also receive. Where it does seem that there will be big changes is in the future, since Gurman has again given a hint of what is to come with, for example, temperature sensors for the ear canal that would offer quite precise values.

The jump to USB-C

With the iPads already adapted to the world of the universal port, the most important leap and that will generate the most controversy will be that of the iPhone. Apple’s phone would thus give up its original reversible port, and with the phone already adapted, it would make a lot of sense for the headphones to take the step at the same time if we take into account how dependent they are for some users on each other.

Now we only have to continue waiting for the month of September to find out, but there are so many references and clues that we have been receiving for months that it will be quite difficult not to find an iPhone 15 with a USB port in the coming months.
