Army of the Dead director, Zack Snyder, shared the first images of Army of Thieves, the film focused on the funny German burglar Ludwig Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer) who will be the prequel to the zombie apocalypse seen on Netflix.
Announced only a few months ago, the Army of the Dead prequel seems to be well under way, with images that offer us Dieter engaged in one of his hits, but also other characters including former Games of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel.

Here are the images shared by Snyder through his official Twitter profile, which reminds us that he will not be directing the film but Schweighöfer himself will be behind the camera:

The story of this new film will tell of a “Small town cashier” named Dieter, who “He is drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a team of Interpol’s most wanted criminals in an attempt to crack a string of legendary impossible safes across Europe.”
The cast of Army of Thieves will also include Guz Khan (Turn Up Charlie), Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin (Jamestown), Jonathan Cohen (Budapest), Noemie Nakai, Peter Simonischek (Toni Erdmann) and John Bubniak.
The film is set in the same universe as Army of the Dead, and while it looks like the undead will be excluded from the plot, we know that “there will be something” about them in the new film.
The film does not yet have an official release date, but is expected to arrive on Netflix by the end of the year.
