In recent weeks, the main French operators have given pride of place to the arrival of Wi-Fi 6E, the latest generation Wi-Fi standard, in their offers. Bouygues Telecom got the ball rolling by confirming the integration of Wi-Fi 6E in its Bbox Ultym, while unveiling a new box: the Bbox Fiber Wi-Fi 6E. Orange followed suit by presenting the Livebox 6, its new Wi-Fi 6E compatible box.

As you may know, Wi-Fi 6E adds a new frequency band, namely the 6 GHz band, in addition to the classic 2.4 and 5 GHz. Thanks to this dedicated frequency bank, Wi-Fi 6E provides better performance since this band is generally less congested, since only compatible devices can connect to it. The result is more throughput, more speed, lower latency, and the ability to connect more devices simultaneously.

Bouygues Telecom improves its Fiber offers… while increasing prices

On the occasion of the launch of the Bbox Fiber Wi-Fi 6E, the operator has made several improvements to its Fiber offers… And of course, this is necessarily accompanied by rising prices. Thus, the prices of Bouygues’ three Fiber offers, namely Bbox Fit, Bbox Must and Bbox Ultym increased, in exchange for better performance:

  • the entry-level Bbox Fit offer remains at €15.99 per month for the 1st year, but its price then increases to €30.99/month instead of €29.99/month. Uplink and downlink rates are however inflated, both dropping to 400 Mbps (instead of 200 and 300 Mbit/s)
  • the Bbox Must offer retains the same prices for the 1st year (€22.99/month), but increases to €40.99/month instead of €39.99/month after the first 12 months. The upload benefits from an appreciable boost by going from 400 Mbit/s to 700 Mbps. No change for the download, still at 1 Gbps
  • As for the Bbox Ultym offer, the prices change from the first year, going from €28.99/month to €29.99/month. Then you will have to pay €49.99/month instead of €46.99/month. The uplink speed swells for the occasion, going from 600 to 900 Mbps. No changes to report for the download, which remains at 2 Gbps

As a reminder, Bouygues Telecom had already increased the price of the Bbox Must fiber offer in October 2021, by an additional €5 per month. Only a few days ago, B&You mobile plans were entitled to a new price increase.
