The launch of the Ryzen 7000 was undoubtedly one of the most important events of the past year. However, the absence of cheap AM5 motherboards it has taken its toll on AMD, and has meant that the adoption rate of this new generation of processors has not been as good as in previous generations.

The truth is that it is totally normal, because in the end the cost of making the leap to this new platform represents a considerable investmentand having the Ryzen 5000 still on the market at very interesting prices, many users have preferred to upgrade their equipment with one of these processors, or even to build a new PC based on the AM4 platform that, frankly, still has a lot of life. in front.

With the arrival of the non-X Ryzen 7000 processors, a family that runs at a slightly lower frequency and is priced lower, AMD has brought its new generation of CPUs closer to users with tighter budgets, but the key to fully democratize Zen 4 architecture it’s going to be in the budget AM5 motherboards that will hit the market equipped with the A620 chipset.

Thanks to a list that has appeared in the ECC we have been able to confirm that the launch of the cheap AM5 motherboards soon it will be a reality, and that GIGABYTE will not only be one of the big firms that will bet on these motherboards from the outset, but will also offer a wide variety of models. These are the ones we have been able to confirm so far:

  • GIGABYTE A620M D3H.
  • GIGABYTE A620M DS3H.
  • GIGABYTE A620M S2H.
  • GIGABYTE A620M H.
  • GIGABYTE A620M K.

We also know that ASUS is preparing the TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS D5, although we do not have specific details at the moment, since A620 chipset specifications they have not transcended All in all, we can expect fewer PCIe lanes compared to the B650 chipset, support for the PCIe Gen4 standard, a more modest power system, two to four DDR5 memory slots, and fewer USB ports as well. This chipset will not support overclock either, but we can use AMD EXPO profiles to increase the RAM.

When it comes to price, chances are cheap AM5 motherboards are around between 100 and 120 euros, a figure that would allow us to greatly reduce the cost of assembling a new PC with a Ryzen 7000. If all goes according to plan, the first boards with A620 chipset should arrive before the end of the first quarter of this year.
