Leslie Grace gives us a first look at the costume she’ll be wearing in Batgirl, this year on HBO Max.
While all eyes are on The Batman by Matt Reeves, with Robert Pattinson in the skin of the dark knight, another DC heroine is talking about her. Batgirl, who will be entitled to her solo film on HBO Max, is revealed through a first official image. Shared by Leslie Grace, the photo allows us to see for the first time the costume that Barbara Gordon will wear during these nocturnal trips through Gotham.
A costume that pays homage to the paper character, in midnight blue outfit and with a yellow cape to better move between the buildings of the city. Leslie Grace accompanied this image with a quote that she signs Batgirl Year One, whose plot will be visibly adapted. The tone is set.
“I use their expectations against them. It will be their weakness, not mine. That they all underestimate me… And when their guard is down, and their pride rises, let me kick their ass.”
A cast with a capital C
The film directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, filmmakers behind Bad Boys For Life, will benefit from a casting in the firmament. In addition to Leslie Grace (Where we come from) we will find JK Simmons in the skin of Commissioner Gordon. The actor, who seems to have a soft spot for superhero movies, was already camping it in Justice League.
Michael Keaton, who will make his big comeback as the dark knight for The Flash, should once again put on the costume and no doubt join forces with the young vigilante. Brendan Fraiser (The Mummy) should appear as Firefly. He thus obtains the role of big villain. First appeared in Detective Comics (vol.1) in June 1952, Firefly is an arsonist equipped with armor allowing him to fly. This pyrotechnics and explosives expert, named Ted Carson, has faced Batgirl several times in the comics.
In 2022 on HBO Max
For now, Batgirl does not have an official release date. The film should nevertheless land a little later this year directly on HBO Max. In France, it is still difficult to know where it will be broadcast. Since the launch of the platform, OCS no longer has the exclusivity of all the channel’s productions. One can nevertheless imagine that, as for Justice League, the Orange platform being chosen for France.
Until then, we will find Batman in Matt Reeves’ movie next March 2. Flash, adapted from flash point and directed by Andy Muschietti, should land on the big screen on November 2 next.
