The port of Final Fantasy VII to PC has just been released. And the disappointment is great among some players who deplore drops in framerate and a low number of graphics settings.
The PS4 version was released in April 2020. At the time, we underlined in our test how this Final Fantasy VII Remake was a fantastic rebirth. After its release on PS5 last June, the game was due to hit PC. And it is now done since December 16, FF7 Remake being available for purchase on the Epic Games Store at a price of 79.99 euros. With such a price, the expectations of the fans were high.
However, in some players, framerate drops have been observed, especially in overcrowded areas such as the slums of Midgar. “The PC port is terrible” , even tweeted John Linneman, editor and videographer at Digital Foundry, lamenting a very detrimental lack of fluidity.

Final Fantasy VII Remake: too few graphics settings
According to PC Gamer, the word“Terrible” is still a bit strong since the game does not crash or is not riddled with messy bugs. That being said, it’s unfortunate that such an expensive high-end PC game comes with so little graphics settings. In this case, it is not possible to set a variable frame rate or activate the VSync (which solves the problems of synchronization between the number of FPS and the refresh rate of the screen).
Also, it is not possible to turn off motion blur and change anti-aliasing. Players also cannot turn off resolution scaling. So many deficiencies that could explain the graphics setbacks of the game among some users. However, there is already a mod to turn off dynamic resolution. It is also recommended to use DirectX 11 instead of DirectX 12 to avoid stuttering on Final Fantasy VII Remake.
For its part, PCGamingWiki evokes VRAM problems, which suggests that the game is currently poorly optimized on PC. Square Enix is expected to make fixes soon to deal with these graphics issues. At least we hope so.
