SQUARE ENIX and Luminous Productions teamed up with the Hollywood screenwriter Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), who came up with the original concept, and with the award-winning screenwriter and director Amy Hennig (Uncharted series), who developed the story concept in 2019 (before taking the helm of Skydance New Media). After taking the reins as the main screenwriters for the story and script of Forspoken, the talented Allison Rymer (Shadowhunters) And Todd Stashwick (Devil Inside) have created an exciting story about personal discovery and about one’s place in the world.

“Write Forspoken it was a magical experience. The protagonist, Frey, is strong, complex and it is easy to identify with her. I can’t wait for the players to connect with her. “ Rymer said. Stashwick then added: “As with Frey, it has been a long and fantastic journey for us too. I can’t wait for players to discover the story we have created. I am proud to be part of this team and to be able to give a contemporary and fun twist to the fantasy genre. “

SQUARE ENIX and Luminous Productions also unveiled that the soundtrack was composed by BAFTA award winners Bear McCreary (God of War 2018 and the TV series The Walking Dead) And Garry Schyman (series Bioshock). Together they solidified the unusual nature of the game by inviting players to immerse themselves in a world of insane beauty accompanied by contemporary electronic beats with a fantasy tone.

“We were incredibly excited to be able to work together to compose the score for Forspoken. When we first read the script, Frey’s dynamic character moved us, and so did the contrasting modern and fantasy themes underlying the story, so we wanted to reflect them in the music we composed for the score. ” McCreary and Schyman said.

The game is under development for both PlayStation 5 and PC (it will arrive on Steam, Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store) and the release is scheduled for spring 2022.
