Italian eSports Awards: all the winners of the 2021 edition

The winners of the Italian Esports Awards (IEA), the award that celebrates the excellences of the world of esports in Italy.

IIDEA has in fact communicated that, on the sidelines of the first day of Round One, the awards ceremony has just ended, which was held on the big stage of Sala Fucine inside OGR Torino, the location hosting the second edition of Round One.

The winners of the Italian eSports Awards were awarded

Through the Round One Twitch channel, fans and professionals had the opportunity to follow the evening conducted by Bryan Ronzani – radio speaker, presenter of the major esports and gaming events in Italy and founder of The Box, the first lateshow on Twitch – and Virginia Gambatesa, aka Kafkanya – content creator specialized in everything that is pop culture, from drawing, to cinema to videogames, but also a professional dubbing, face of the Sofa & Popcorn series on Insanity Page and of programs such as Twitch Dire Europeani on RDS Next.

The jury of the Italian Esports Awards, composed of Massimiliano di Marco (reporter), Ivan Grieco (caster and professional host), Francesco “Deugemo” Lombardo (esports reporter), Filippo Pedrini (Early Stage VC & Senior Business Development of Magnet) and Sara “Kurolily” Stefanizzi (variety streamer), awarded the winners of 7 of the competing categories, while the public elected the People’s Choice: Esports Game of the Year.

The prices

The jurors selected the winners for the categories Best Italian Team, Best Italian Player, Best Italian Caster, Best Italian Content Creator and Esports Game of the Year, as well to the news of 2021 Best Italian Event And Best Italian Commercial Activation.

Best Italian Team

Like Best Italian Team excelled, for the second consecutive year, QLASH team, the organization dedicated to esports founded in 2017 by Luca Pagano and Eugene Katchalov. In addition to the commitment to competitions, Team QLASH is involved in creating and supporting gaming and esports communities on a global and local level. In addition, it recently launched its Equity Crowdfunding campaign, quickly exceeding the pre-established target of 800,000 euros and reaching almost one million in collections.

Best Italian Player

In this category he won Riccardo “Reynor” Romiti. Already awarded at the Italian Video Game Awards 2019 as Best Esports Player and at the Italian Eports Awards 2020 as Best Italian Player, Riccardo discovers StarCraft II at just 8 and a half years old and today represents the future of Italian export in the world, as evidenced also by the victories at WCS Winter and WCS Summer in 2019, at Dreamhack Masters Summer 2020, and in September 2020 also at Dreamhack Masters Fall.

Best Italian Caster

The Best Italian Caster of this edition of the Italian Esports Awards is instead Emiliano “Moonboy” Marini, League of Legends caster for PG Esports who, after the first steps in his career as a voice actor, found the opportunity to make his greatest passion his job.

Best Italian Content Creator

Among the finalists of the Best Italian Content Creator was crowned the winner Dario “Moonryde” Ferracci, one of the most famous content creators in Italy, nicknamed “the sniper of San Cesareo”, and recently joined the ranks of the Fnatic team.

Best Italian Event

In the competition for the Best Italian Event got the better of it eSeries TIM, the official esports championship wanted by Lega Serie A, which last year saw the participants compete on two different titles: FIFA 21 and eFootball PES 2021.

Best Italian Commercial Activation

For the category Best Italian Commercial Activation the choice fell on Machete Gaming x McDonald’s for McDelivery GGang, the project dedicated to competitive gaming with the peculiarity of an all-female roster, even on the bench.

Esports Game of the Year

Among the titles in the running to decree theEsports Game of the Year it is confirmed League of Legends, online video game of the MOBA genre developed and published by Riot Games, with an active and widespread esports scene that involves the whole world through the different championships organized by Riot Games, which converge in the World Championship held at the end of each season and which in 2019 it recorded 100 million viewers.

The public’s favorite eSport

This year, for the first time, the public had a chance to elect the People’s Choice: Esports Game of the Year.

Fans voted through the IEA website for one of the ten nominated titles – among the most broadcast games on Twitch in 2020 from the top 10,000 Italian-language channels sorted by hours watched (source: Report on Esports in Italy 2021) – by electing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege as best esports game of the year.
