Lidl has decided to get into the electric bike and sell the Zündapp Z801. A very accessible model that the brand is starting to sell in certain European markets.
A specialist in low prices, Lidl is experiencing a dizzying rise and is seeking to take care of its image. The brand is not limited to food and regularly offers high-tech products, robot cookers such as the Monsieur Cuisine Connect or even plane tickets. The chain of stores is now interested in electric mobility and offers the Zündapp Z801 for sale. This electric bike arrives at Lidl at a price of less than 1,000 euros, in partnership with a German manufacturer.
The Zündapp Z801 is rather well equipped with regard to its price, relying in particular on a 480 Wh lithium-ion battery. It offers 30 to 125 km of range depending on use, a fairly wide range. Indeed, it will depend on the type of route, the conditions or the speed. It requires 5 hours for a full charge on a household outlet. In accordance with the legislation, the engine claims a power of 250 W to reach 25 km/h.
In terms of weight, the bike displays 22.7 kg on the scale and has 27.5-inch tires. The technical base is rather promising with a Shimano Tourney derailleur (21 speeds), a Shimano SL-M315 shifter or even Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. An LCD screen is also present to display information and adjust the level of assistance. It will be possible in particular to display the distance traveled, the level of charge of the battery or the speed. Finally, the bike can support a maximum load of 120 kg.
An unbeatable price?
Usually sold at a price around 2,000 euros, the Zündapp Z801 is displayed at Lidl at only 899 euros. An impressive discount that the brand reserves for the moment for certain European countries, such as Spain or Germany. Across the Rhine, the brand also offers a complete range, but it is on the side of our Iberian neighbors that the price observed is the lowest. For the time being, France is not concerned and Lidl has not mentioned the arrival of an electric bike in our regions.
There is no doubt that such a price could convince more than one to get into the electric bike. In France, Decathlon has tried the experiment by offering the Rockrider E-ST100, an electric mountain bike sold for under 1,000 euros.
