Max is now official, and will arrive in Spain in 2024

As we told you a few days ago, today was the day chosen by WarnerMedia to the official presentation of Max, the video-on-demand platform that will combine the HBO Max and Discovery+ catalogs. It has not been, therefore, a surprise, since in reality this is an operation that we have been talking about for a little over a year, when the merger of both companies (WarnerMedia and Discovery) was accepted by the shareholders of both parts.

A few weeks ago it was leaked that the name of the platform resulting from the merger would receive the name of Max, something somewhat striking, since it means giving up the prestige associated with the names of HBO and Discovery, highly valued within their respective sectors. This choice, as the company has stated today, has as its raison d’être the search for a neutral identity, which does not in any way favor the image of one brand or another, something that I do not quite see clearly either, since Max remembers, without doubt, to the still present HBO Max.

Initial rumors suggested that Max would debut in the United States in the summer of this year, while its international deployment would take place in 2024. However, and as we told you before, the leaks stated that the managers had decided to step on the accelerator, and that finally the launch in the United States would take place in the spring. And they were not wrong, since the date chosen for this is May 23in just over a month.

Regarding Spain, the HBO Max account on Twitter has confirmed in this message that the launch of Max in Spain will take place in 2024. There is no more information about it (dates, prices, etc.), so we will have to wait to know these details. A large part of the responses to said tweet ask what will happen to the 50% promotion on the price offered by HBO Max at its launch in Spain, to which the account has responded that the information on prices and special promotions will be released later. forward. that is to say, that there are no clarifications about it either.

Waiting to know the prices and content when Max arrives in our country (prices in the United States range from $9.99 to $19.99, in plans with and without advertising), the merger of HBO Max and Discovery+ may be very interesting, as it will combine HBO’s own fiction content with Discovery’s wide and varied non-fiction offerwhich can give rise to a catalog in which variety is the basis for attracting more users and getting them to spend more time per week consuming its content.
