10 movies compete this year for the most coveted award, the Oscar for best picture. Ten, with some expected elections and others that, truthfully, have been somewhat of a surprise. Many of them are already available on your platform streaming favorite, while others are still in theaters or have not been released.
We have 10 nominees for best picture at the 2022 Oscars, and it was generally what was expected, except for a few surprises and some very peculiar decisions.

The Power of the Dog (Netflix)
This platform production streaming has Benedict Cumberbatch as its protagonist and means the return of Jane Campion to directing. 12 statuettes can be taken and already has the Golden Globe in the drama category.

Belfast (in theaters)
The last of Kenneth Branagh was left at the gates of the Golden Globe. The beginnings of the long struggle in Northern Ireland between Protestants and Catholics may surprise, although the result seemed somewhat flat to me, because I have to put my opinion somewhere side.

West Side Story (in theaters)
The one that did win that Golden Globe, but in the comedy or musical category, is the remake of the classic that Spielberg has made. better than you expectits passage through the box office has not been like shooting rockets, but it is possible that it will be vindicated if it clicks the power of the dog.

Don’t Look Up (Netflix)

Surprise in my opinion. The remake from the classic film of the same name, with Tyron Powers, has that Del Toro style and way too much footage. However, it’s not bad.

Nominated for best film and Villeneuve is left out of the bid for best director. Inexplicable when it is one of its many strengths. Coming soon to HBO Max on February 17.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film with one of those titles for hipster, which is a reference to a famous record store (famous in California).

CODA: Signs of the Heart (pending on Apple TV+)
The mess of this film is important. Apple TV plus already has it released in some regions of its platform, but you know how those things go. For now, we will have to wait for it to arrive in Spain and we are not sure when.
