NVIDIA announces RTX Video Super Resolution to improve the video experience in Chrome and Edge

NVIDIA has announced the publication of its new technology, RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR)which consists of artificial intelligence (AI) that processes image scaling, allows videos to be displayed on 1440p or 4K displays with greater clarity and is available for the GeForce RTX 30 and RTX 40 series of graphics.

RTX VSR is somewhat reminiscent of DLSS, in that relies on Tensor cores to process videos played at lower resolutions in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to accommodate higher resolution screens, as well as improve image quality. Thanks to the latest technology artificial intelligence image processing, RTX VSR is able to offer a sharp image while improving certain aspects such as edges and removing artifacts derived from compression.

By offering support through the web browser, RTX Video Super Resolution supports content from popular platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, Disney+, Hulu and Netflix. To use the technology, users only have to download the latest version of the Game Ready drivers for Windows and we remember that for now it is only available for RTX 30 and RTX 40 graphics models.

NVIDIA demonstrates, once again, its mastery of artificial intelligence both at the hardware and software levels to put it at the service of the user and improve the experience with the image displayed through the screen, be it a monitor or a television. Apart from RTX VSR, there is also DLSS 3, with which the green giant maintains its leadership in upscaling and supersampling technologies.

In addition to RTX VSR, the company exposes that the latest Game Ready drivers allow to improve the performance of Atomic Heart to 4K by 90% using the power of DLSS 3 and artificial intelligence, reaching up to 184 frames per second under those conditions with an RTX 4090. The improvement with an RTX 4080 reaches up to 80% to mark up to 146 frames per second at 4K and 62% with an RTX 4070 Ti to reach 160 frames at 1440p.

Those who are interested in RTX Video Super Resolution can see all the details published on the official NVIDIA blog.
