NVIDIA Launches Omniverse for Developers

The green giant has taken advantage of the GTC 2022 framework to confirm the launch of NVIDIA Omniverse for Developersan important update of its well-known platform that brings new functions that they will make life easier to professionals dedicated to the world of video games, thanks to the boost that has been given to collaborative work in real time, and to the implementation of artificial intelligence to improve the facial animations of the characters

With this new version of NVIDIA Omniverse, developers can collaborate in real time and take advantage of the full potential of the tools. powered by artificial intelligence and the NVIDIA RTX ecosystem. They can also build their own tools through the modular blocks offered by this platform.

What is NVIDIA Omniverse?

NVIDIA Omniverse is a open platform and designed to use several GPUs that, as we have said before, facilitates the collaborative work of different professionals specialized in 3D design, and the precise simulation of physics in real time.

It runs on any NVIDIA RTX device, from a laptop to a server, accelerating and simplifying entire 3D workloads. Omniverse is based on Pixar’s Universal Scene Description (USD)an open source and easily extensible 3D scene description and file format for creating and sharing content between the most popular major game development tools.

NVIDIA has expanded USD by developing new tools, integrating technologies, and providing examples and tutorials. NVIDIA Omniverse for Developers makes it easy and simple to create huge 3D worlds and content libraries, and it also makes managing and unifying the work of development teams much more efficient and easy. In the end, all of this has a noticeable impact on the workflow of any development team, and makes a substantial difference.

During this year’s GTC, NVIDIA further confirmed the introduction of four new keys which undoubtedly enhance the value offered by the Omniverse platform. Let’s discover them:

  • Omniverse Audio2Face, an application that uses NVIDIA artificial intelligence to generate high-quality facial animations from an audio file. Audio2Face now supports full facial animation and allows you to control the emotion of the performance. With Audio2Face, game developers will be able to create higher quality facial animations effortlessly, and in less time.
  • Omniverse Nucleus Cloud, available in “early access” phase, allows sharing Omniverse scenes with a single click, eliminating the need to deploy Nucleus locally or in a private cloud. With the Nucleus Cloud, game developers can easily share and collaborate in real time on 3D assets between internal and external development teams.
  • Omniverse DeepSearchan AI-enabled service now available to Omniverse Enterprise subscribers, that enables game developers to use natural language input and images to instantly search their entire asset catalog for 3D objects and characters without tag, which can help streamline workflows a lot.
  • omniverse connectors, are plugins that enable collaborative “live sync” workflows between third-party design tools and Omniverse. The new Omniverse Connector for Unreal Engine 5 allows game artists to exchange USD and Material Definition Language data between the game engine and the Omniverse.
