Obi-Wan Kenobi: first official images for the TV series about the Jedi master

Looking forward to the news coming during the Disney Plus Day today, surprisingly, the first clip of the TV series of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the show set in the Star Wars universe that will feature the Jedi played by Ewan McGregor.

The video, now removed from major websites, featured official photos and concepts from the TV series directed by Deborah Chow.

The images include some of the places where the events will take place (such as Tatooine, Mustafar and more), the ship of one of the Inquisitors and, above all, a fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. The return of the character played by Hayden Christensen is certainly one of the main reasons that have increased the hype for this Disney + TV series.

The clip also contained clips with interviews with director Debora Chow and Ewan McGregor. The first underlined how the show is set in a really difficult and complicated period for the Jedi (that of the Jedi Purge following Order 66), while the second did not hide his happiness in having found his “padawan” on the set:

The best thing is to be able to work with Hayden Christensen again.

Plot and details from the Obi-Wan Kenobi series

What we know about the show, besides the full cast of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, is that this will be set 10 years later. Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, going to cover the period in which Obi-Wan Kenobi watched over the son of Darth Vader (who in the series will be played again by Hayden Christensen), entrusted to him at the end of the prequel trilogy and conducted, as we know, on Tatooine.

The series is interpreted not only by the protagonist, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, also by Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell And Benny Safdie.

Deborah Chow (Better Call Saul, American Gods, The Mandalorian) will direct the series and also serve as showrunner, with Hossein Amini (Drive, McMafia) e Joby Harold (John Wick 3, Awake, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) to the script.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Chow, McGregor And Harold.

The series will be shot using the same scenography technology used by the creators of The Mandalorian.

When does Obi-Wan Kenobi come out?

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s release date on Disney Plus could likely be announced today at the same time as the expected first trailer for the show arrives.

At the moment what we know is that the TV series should debut in the spring of 2022, perhaps in the month of May, even in advance of the first rumors that instead saw June as the month chosen by Disney + for the landing on the streaming platform!
