OnePlus 11 Concept, illuminated and cooled

OnePlus is exhibiting at MWC 2023 the new OnePlus 11 Concept mobile created as a proof of concept on its flagship series. And it is as we expected; a special version that offers some of the features of the regular version, but adds a active cooling system and lighting that will not go unnoticed.

The manufacturer has revealed the key to this project, which, like other prototypes, is developed as a design innovation and engineering sample, but with no guarantee that it will reach the market. The crux of the matter lies in what the manufacturer calls Activate CryoFluxa new cooling method dedicated to lowering the temperature of the terminal and achieving superior performance in some tasks.

The system works basically like the liquid cooling system of a PC. It has two ceramic piezoelectric micropumps that OnePlus says are so small that they won’t add significantly to the weight of the mobile and from there the blue coolant is pumped, which can be seen in a transparent back part redesigned for the occasion and that eliminates the glass cover of the original mobile.

Those “icy blue piping that runs the entire length of the back of the phone, almost as if it has its own series of blood vessels”as described by the manufacturer, is a blue LED illumination as a wave-shaped pattern that extends to the frame of the main camera system.

OnePlus says that this system lowers the temperature by a little more than 2 degrees and achieves increase 3 or 4 FPS in gaming performance. Beyond this, the aesthetic is impressive, different, and is to be valued among such similar devices and with so few innovations.

For the rest, the cameras are the same as the standard OnePlus 11 with a triple configuration (50MP + 32MP + 48MP), as is the screen, a high-resolution AMOLED with 6.7 inches of the OnePlus 11. There are no changes in its main hardware, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC from Qualcomm in front and up to 16 Gbytes of RAM memory.

It is unknown if this “concept”, which the brand had already developed for previous series such as the OnePlus 8T Concept, will go into production, although we assume that at least the technology behind the Active CryoFlux cooling system can be used in future mobile phones.
