Amazon and Warner Bros. Discovery have just confirmed the launch in France of the Pass Warner. This new Premium formula will allow users to access the entire HBO package and twelve other channels from the American studio.
As you may know, Amazon Prime Video and Warner Bros. Discovery formalized the existence of the Warner Pass in January 2023. Via this new paid option, the video streaming giant obtained the exclusive rights to broadcast HBO branded content as well as those of a dozen channels of the American studio.
This partnership was negotiated when OCS lost its license with HBO at the beginning of the year. The question was therefore who would become the lucky one to broadcast HBO series and films in France. It is therefore Amazon who won the timpani.
The Warner Pass arrives in France from March 16, 2023
However, Amazon France had not yet given all the details of this new offer, starting with its price, its release date, the terms of engagement or the content offered. It is now done.
In an official press release, Amazon France confirms the launch of the Warner Pass in our country from Thursday March 16, 2023. “The launch of the Warner Pass on Prime Video Channels in France is our next step in becoming the meeting place for storytelling, entertainment and sport. We are delighted to consolidate our privileged relationship with Warner and to join forces to meet the expectations of our French subscribers”. welcomes Brigitte Ricou-Bellan, president of Prime Video France.
Available directly in the panel Prime Video Channelswhich includes the various paid options offered by Amazon such as the Pass Ligue 1 or Paramount+, this formula will be displayed at the price of €9.99 per month and this without obligation.
In other words, if you decide to subscribe to this option, your monthly bill will increase to €16.99. Or €6.99 for the Amazon Prime subscription and €9.99 for the Warner Pass. For comparison, the Premium Netflix formula, which in particular allows you to enjoy 4K content on 4 screens simultaneously, is displayed at €17.99. Regarding image quality, Amazon announces 1080p for most contentand 4K for specific titles like Games of Thrones.
All HBO bundled on the Warner Pass
But then, what will this Warner Pass offer? First of all, you will find all HBO series from March 16, 2023. This obviously includes cult series like Band of Brothers, The Sopranos, True Blood, The Wire or the whole of game of thrones, for the first time in 4K also on television. A formula destined to last? Not sure
Note that the Warner Pass might not last. Why this ? Warner Bros. Discovery is still determined to launch its own streaming platform titled Max in 2024. In other words, this agreement with Amazon could end as early as next year.
