Recycap Technologies has proposed recycle coffee capsules in a simple and automatic way and he has achieved it. The Spanish startup thus enters the market with the intention of developing and marketing its pioneering Reacttm technology, thanks to the investment of up to 400,000 euros of Veos Ventures, SL, a Spanish-American accelerator fund.
Coffee capsules are becoming increasingly popular in Western Europe and North America, especially for preparing quality coffee at home. In fact, its turnover is growing exponentially, going from 9.920 million dollars in 2021 to 12.330 million in 2022. Around 39,000 capsules are produced around the world every minute and only in Spain more than five million capsules are used a day. However, only 10% of these are recycled, which means that 25 tons of capsules with coffee inside are sent to landfills every day without being able to be recycled.
Recycap Technologies, founded by entrepreneurs Eduardo Pérez, Vicente Oller and Constantino Llobel Duráallows consumers to recycle their aluminum coffee capsules at home or in the office and throw the empty capsules in the usual recycling bins thanks to its Recycap Automated Coffee Technology (React) system.
Reacy is a patented technology that allows remove the grounds of coffee capsules, which facilitates the recycling of aluminum capsules. To do this, it is based on a mechanical system that allows the coffee to be easily cleaned from the capsules, leaving the aluminum or plastic capsules empty and ready for recycling. In this way, Recycap devices are innovative and fully automated end-to-end coffee capsule recycling solutions for domestic and commercial use.

Recycle capsules without leaving home or office
The funding will be used to start manufacturing commercial-size Recycap recycling machines, start commercial operations and create other collaborations within the industry, as well as to develop the first home coffee machine with fully integrated React technology. Recycap Technologies is also currently working with major coffee retailers and brands to create point-of-sale aluminum coffee pod recycling programs.
