
The manufacturer of Chinese origin TCL has shown at CES 2023 three models of smartphones that will be sold at affordable prices. The brand, which is also known for its televisions and laptops, maintains the same strategy of betting on value for money.
The three smartphones shown correspond to the TCL 40 series and will have prices ranging from $129 to $219, amounts that will rise in Spain due to tax issues and other issues. They all pack a 50-megapixel rear-facing camera and the brand’s NxtVision display mode, which is essentially an HDR mode that kicks in when watching videos or playing games. The exact models are TCL 408, TCL 40 S and TCL 40 R 5G and they all run on Android 13.
TCL has acknowledged in a press conference that 95% of its customers use prepaid plans, which often do not require a credit check. This means that it is aware that maintaining its commitment to value for money is essential to continue growing as a brand and expanding its customer base. Its new smartphones will compete with other models such as Samsung’s Galaxy A14 5G, which was shown at CES 2023 and will have a reference price in the United States of $199.
