Now that Tesla’s first customers are beginning to take delivery of the Semi, the company’s electrified Class 8 tractor-trailer, more details are emerging regarding its general operation and most importantly, the driver experience, inside the cabin.
Upon delivery of the Tesla Semi, the engineer responsible for designing the Semi specified that “the cabin of the Semi is built around the driver”. As can be seen in the video shared by the Teslaoracle blog on Twitter, the cabin is so large that the driver can stand up in his cabin. If we clearly find the minimalist design used through the different cars of the brand, this choice implies sacrifices. The driver’s seat is located exactly in the center of the cabinthe passenger seat is set back a little and there is no space for a berth.
The driver enjoys two large touch screens and its central driving position gives it a 270-degree view of its surroundings. According to Elon Musk, the Semi drives like a Model 3: “You hardly need any training [pour le piloter]. Of course, you have to think big when you’re behind the wheel, but it’s not difficult”.

Different sensors and cameras help monitor blind spots. Important vehicle videos and information are displayed on screens that are also found on the Tesla Model 3 dashboard, on either side of the cockpit.

We will understand, the priority is given to the comfort of the pilot. The latter thus has a nice storage space to its right. Integrated into it, we see various ports and sockets as well as a wireless charging station. A tray is within easy reach for placing cups and other utensils.
