The CYL-HUB project continues to “conquer” the Castilian provinces

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment of the Junta de Castilla y León, Mariano Veganzones, was in charge of closing the event CYL-HUB Segovia, one more step of the entrepreneurship project, CYL-HUB, for the region. On this occasion, the Cárcel-Segovia Creation Center was the place chosen to take stock. The counselor also made a visit to the startup fairwhere he was able to learn about the projects of the new entrepreneurs from Castilla y León.

The event lasted two days, full of intense activities, where the Awards ceremony for the six best startups who participated in the pitch competition. the winner was Quevana The Vegan Cheese Factory, from the province of Segovia, while the second place has corresponded to eternity and the third to European.RED. The other three awarded startups have been Search Help, M2Sensors and Dryad Life Universe.

In addition to the closing ceremony and the awards ceremony, two important events were held throughout the day with the participation of prominent institutional representatives. The first act has been the official inauguration and has had the interventions of the delegate of the Rector for the Transfer of the UVA, María Ángeles Pérez; the Councilor for Innovation of the Segovia City Council, Alberto Espinar, and Fernando del Campo, General Director of Industry of Castilla y León. The second act has been the institutional act, in which the mayoress of Segovia, Clara Martín; the CEO of ENISA, Jose Bayon; the general director of the UVa Science Park in Segovia, María Ángeles Pérez; the deputy for Employment, Provincial Promotion and Sustainability of the Provincial Council of Segovia, Noemí Otero; and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment of the Board, Mariano Veganzones.

He Segovia City Council, the Provincial Council, Alimentos de Segovia, the University of Valladolid and its Science Park have collaborated in the organization of CYL-HUB Segovia, which has brought together more than 90 speakers, 25 startups, 22 corporations and investors for two days with a total of almost 300 participants. The event began in the auditorium of the María Zambrano Campus of the University of Valladolid and took place on its second day at La Cárcel Segovia-Creation Center.

A total of 15 round tables were held and the second day of the event included a startup fair, the pitch competition for startups and, of course, networking activities between startups and investors. Among the scheduled round tables, those dedicated to the present and future of the ecosystem of the province of Segovia, the challenges of Segovian corporations by sectors and technologies and open innovation as a motor for job creation stood out. Another prominent round table discussed the importance of the way of communicating in the field of entrepreneurship. which included the participation of prominent journalists.

The main objectives of this event have been that the participating startups could connect with different corporations and investors to get investment and clients and, of course, promote and boost talent, digitization and the entrepreneurial culture, as well as impact the younger generations, women, rural areas and the unemployed population, and attract them to become active players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, influencing the reduction of social gaps in the technological environment. In addition, startups were able to present their ideas and projects at the pitch competition, at the startup fair, and in private meetings with investors.
