The first PS4/PS5 emulator makes its PC debut

If PS3 emulators are now numerous and rather optimized, finding a good PS4 emulator is much more complicated. And let’s not even mention the PS5. Nevertheless, the developer Inorinus has launched to dabble in this project a bit. Indeed, he has just launched Kity, the very first PS4/PS5 emulator. Attention, the software is at a very early stage of its development.

Today, it is possible to find several stable and up-to-date PS3 emulators, such as RPCS3 for example. Convenient for (re)playing Sony console classics like God of War 3, The Last of Us or Uncharted.

Well, another viable solution is to subscribe to the Playstation Plus Premium to take advantage of the catalog of PS3 games. For the moment, the number of titles available is not huge, but there are nevertheless some cult games such as Siphon Filter for example. Anyway, we will have to wait until June 22, 2022 to get an idea of the new PS Plus.

Regarding the emulation of PS4 games, the projects are still in their infancy and there is no stable software at the time of writing these lines. And let’s not even mention the PS5. However, the developer InoriRus has decided to embark on this ambitious project to create an emulator for both consoles.

Kity, the first PS4/PS5 emulator, debuts

Called Kity, it is already available for download on GitHub. Be warned though, the software is still in an early stage of development and don’t expect to run Demon’s Souls or Redemption & Clank: Rift Apart on your PC at 4K 60 FPS with Ray Tracing enabled.

Don’t count on running the latest PS4 games either.. For now, the performance is not really there, with an average of 15-20 FPS on the PS4 game Worms WMD as we can see on the video shared by InoriRus.

In addition, the developer specifies that Kity does not support audio input/output, MP4 video format, network play and multi-users. And for now, it is unable to launch commercial PS5 games. As a reminder, this is the third PS4 emulator under development, alongside Spine and GPCS4.
