It didn’t take long for Warner to formalize a sequel to its TV series “The Last of Us”. In just two episodes, she is so successful that it was hard to imagine it being otherwise.
Broadcast since January 16, 2023, the series The Last of Us is undoubtedly one of the most significant phenomena of recent months for the small screen. And if you are a fan, good news: the series has just been renewed for a second season.
No wonder, actually: with a score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, The Last of Us is undoubtedly the most popular series of the moment. Yesterday, rumors were already rife about the announcement of a sequel to the series. But nothing had been confirmed yet, until Warner officially announced it today on its media page.
The Last of Us: Season 2 is confirmed
Based on the video game of the same name, The Last of Us takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Victim of an epidemic that has ravaged it for 20 years, Humanity had to completely reorganize itself. It is in this context that evolves Joel, a survivor, who must bring out of a quarantine zone a 14-year-old girl named Ellie.
So it’s official. The Last of Us will return for a second season. “After achieving this unforgettable first season, I can’t wait to see this team excel again with the second season,” said Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programs.
“I am humbled, honored and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have viewed and tuned in to our story of Joel and Ellie’s journey. The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our amazing cast and crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations,” says executive producer Neil Druckmann. “Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!”
For the moment, it is unknown when the filming of the series will take place. And of course, it is still much too early to say about a possible release date. Remember that in France, the series is currently broadcast on Amazon Prime Video.
