these 7 tips will help you better control your iPhone

The latest version of Apple’s system, iOS 15 is full of secret features. Here are 7 tips you need to know to get the most out of your iPhone.

iOS 15 has been available since September on a slew of devices. This version brings some nice improvements and new features to make life easier for iPhone users. Between the WWDC opening conference – an event during which Apple presents a new iOS version – and the availability of the final version, most of the new features are known. They are announced by Apple or discovered through developer or public beta. Nevertheless, the operating system keeps a part of mystery and some secret features are not obvious. Our colleagues from Presse-citron have looked into the matter and reveal 7 tips, which you (perhaps) are not aware of. Web browsing, music, photography, productivity… There are tips for all iPhone users.

Swipe, Swipe… on Safari

Apple’s browser has evolved for the arrival of iOS 15, with a new version that displays the address bar at the bottom of the screen. This change is not only aesthetic, it allows you to switch from one tab to another by simply sliding your finger on the address bar. An ergonomic choice that can save you time or facilitate one-handed operation. However, you can always put the address bar back on top if you don’t like this new layout.

Find a title faster with the Shazam button

Unless you are the queen or the king of the blind test, you have inevitably happened not to find the title of a song. To remedy this, tools like Shazam are available and Apple has spent millions of dollars to afford this music recognition software. The application integrates into the Apple universe and it is possible to quickly identify a title using a shortcut.

The trick, officially offered since the update of iOS to version 14.2, is explained in the video above. With this shortcut, you are sure not to recognize all the titles you hear on the radio, TV or in a store.

Easily zoom in video

Like Snapchat or Instagram, the iPhone camera allows you to zoom quickly when filming in iOS 15. Just hold down the record button and swipe up to zoom, or down to zoom. zoom out. Simple, basic, effective!

Practical functions for the Dictaphone

Apple is tweaking its operating system and its dictaphone on iOS 15 brings some interesting improvements. When replaying an audio recording, you can now change the playback speed. Like other tools, Apple’s application will also offer to delete “blanks” in a conversation (“Ignore silence”). Last point always practical, the option “improvement of the recording” will help to make a recording more audible. For this, the Dictaphone app will eliminate noise pollution.

Add text size for apps of your choice

Another handy tip, iOS 15 offers to customize the font size in apps. It is possible to modify it individually on all the apps installed on your iPhone. Accessible from the control center, the option offers you additional comfort when using your device.

Drag and drop

This is probably one of the handiest features of iOS 15; provided you know how to use it. On the latest version of Apple’s OS, you have the ability to drag and drop between apps. The method has proven itself on PCs or Macs and is very practical on smartphones.

To use this feature, just hold down what you want to “drag” and “drop” it where you want. This works, for example, with text or an image. The operation is not necessarily intuitive at first, but it turns out to be very practical to use after a short period of adaptation.

Scan text with your camera

Another interesting feature, text recognition made its appearance with iOS 15. Called “Live Text”, it will simply allow the iPhone to recognize text displayed on an image or photo. Telephone numbers, dates, e-mail address or postal addresses are among the elements concerned.

If the trick works from the camera (without even taking a photo), it is also possible to use the images stored on your iPhone. The text present on the image will be detected automatically and you can use it to paste it, for example, in your notes. From this feature, you can even perform on-the-fly translation directly from the photo app. Note that Google Lens offers a similar approach on Android devices.

Finally, the feature can also be used in other iOS applications such as Safari.
