Unboxing of this WiFi Mesh gaming

The manufacturer ASUS has launched different Wi-Fi Mesh systems over the years to provide optimal coverage at home, however, until today they have not launched a gamer-oriented team with the typical advanced configuration options to reduce latency by minimum. The new ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 mesh Wi-Fi system It is a team of very high performance, both wired and wireless, in addition, it has the Asuswrt ROG firmware, so it has different levels to accelerate consoles, gaming PCs and also smartphones, with the aim of providing the best user experience possible. Do you want to know the characteristics of this new team and what gaming feature does it incorporate? Below you have all the details.

Main features

This new Wi-Fi Mesh system is a team formed by a total of two nodes, one as AiMesh-router and another like AiMesh node. The first thing that catches our attention about this new equipment is its design, as is the case with all the gaming models of the ROG series from manufacturer ASUS. Although this equipment does not have external antennas, the truth is that it has a very aggressive design compared to the ZenWiFi XD6, XT8 or XT9 to name a few of them. If you have Aura RGB on your gaming PC, you should know that this model also has it, and you can synchronize your gaming set-up so that it looks like never before.

wireless features

The main wireless features of this Wi-Fi Mesh system is that it is Simultaneous tri-band with Wi-Fi 6 and AX10000 class. In the 2.4GHz band we can get up to 574Mbps speed, since it incorporates 2 internal antennas in MU-MIMO 2T2R configuration. In each of the two 5GHz bands we will be able to achieve a speed of up to 4804Mbps, by incorporating a total of 4 internal antennas in MU-MIMO 4T4R configuration in each band.

This new equipment supports 160MHz of channel width in the 5GHz bands, this means that we can get twice the speed with the same number of WiFi antennas. In addition, it supports the main technologies of the Wi-Fi 6 standard to achieve greater coverage, network efficiency and less latency if we connect via WiFi:

  • beamforming: Allows you to focus the wireless signal on the connected WiFi clients, which translates into greater coverage and connection stability.
  • MU-MIMO: Allows you to transfer data simultaneously to several wireless clients, with the aim of having a higher speed globally.
  • OFDMA: Allows you to divide the main channel into subchannels, with the aim of making communication more efficient and connecting up to four times more WiFi clients.

Of course, this Wi-Fi Mesh system has a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button to synchronize the wireless clients without the need to enter the password. Regarding security, we have WPA3-Personal to provide the best security for clients, however, we also have WPA2-Personal so that all clients can connect without problems. We must remember that today there are many clients that do not support WPA3, for this reason, it is absolutely necessary that routers and WiFi Mesh systems incorporate the old standard.

When we set the AiMesh-router, automatically and without us having to do anything, the AiMesh node will be synchronized as soon as we connect it. Therefore, the installation and commissioning of this WiFi Mesh is really fast.

Wired and USB Features

This Wi-Fi Mesh system is made up of two computers that are exactly the same at the hardware leveltherefore we have the same Ethernet ports. Specifically, each Mesh node incorporates:

  • A 2.5G Multigigabit port for the Internet WAN.
  • Three Gigabit Ethernet ports for the LAN.
  • One high-performance USB 3.0 port.

Thanks to the 2.5G Multigigabit port, we will not have a bottleneck in the Internet network. Also, a very important aspect is that we have support for Link Aggregation on the LAN. In the event that you want to use the USB port in the AiMesh node, you can do it without problems as if it were connected to the AiMesh router, in this way, this WiFi Mesh system really consists of 2 high-performance USB 3.0 ports, one on each one of the nodes.

Asuswrt ROG firmware for gamers

The firmware of this Wi-Fi Mesh system is Asuswrt ROG, therefore, we are going to have a specific menu to control the latency and jitter of the connection. Of course, this WiFi Mesh system incorporates all ASUS technologies for prioritizing online games, such as:

  • Game Boost: incorporates the traditional QoS, adaptive QoS and also the bandwidth limiter.
  • gameradar: It allows us to know the latency that there is to the game servers.
  • WTFast: It is the GPN (Gamers Private Network) that many ASUS ROG models incorporate.
  • ROG First: It is able to detect the motherboards of the ROG range to prioritize them over other wired equipment.
  • OpenNAT: is a feature that allows us to open ports to the most popular games, and all without the need for advanced knowledge.
  • Gaming Port: We have the LAN1 port as Gaming Port, therefore, any device connected to this port will have priority over the rest of the equipment.

Of course, this Wi-Fi Mesh system incorporates the rest of the usual options such as guest WiFi networks, AiProtection Pro with bidirectional IPS, advanced parental control, advanced configuration options in WAN, LAN, WiFi, IPv6, the possibility of configuring the firewall and many other common configuration options of routers and Wi-Fi Mesh systems from the manufacturer ASUS.

Unboxing and first impressions

In RedesZone we already have this new ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 Mesh Wi-Fi system, a high-end model that is aimed at gamers, both for its exterior design with Aura RGB, as well as for the Asuswrt ROG firmware that it incorporates to get the most out of the network and prioritize gaming devices as much as possible. This equipment has high-end hardware, so performance is guaranteed.

If you want to know what this Wi-Fi Mesh system is like, in this video you will be able to see in detail all the features of the GT6, as well as the contents of the box. A very important aspect that we must highlight is the design, the format is similar to the XT8 and XT9 but logically with a really nice gaming “touch”.

Soon we are going to offer you a complete analysis in detail, you will be able to see its technical characteristics in detail, the real WiFi, wired and USB performance, as well as all the Asuswrt ROG firmware configuration options in this gaming model.
