Which LG TVs will feature OLED.EX panels to deliver up to 30% more brightness?

One of the great novelties of the next generation of LG premium televisions has to do with the new OLED.EX technology presented by the Korean manufacturer in the last edition of the Consumer Electronic Show.

We are talking about a system that promises to significantly improve the brightness of the panel, achieving 30% more light compared to conventional OLED panels. And, although it is true that we have explained everything we know about this technology, at the moment LG has not specified just how it has achieved these results.

On the other hand, the manufacturer announced that it would start production of OLED.EX panels in the middle of the year. The problem is that the Korean firm confirmed that both the LG G2 and the LG C2, the main workhorses of its new family of televisions, would have an Evo panel, which we could already see in the LG G1 of 2021. The most surprising thing is that the first TV to mount an OLED.EX panel was not LG’s main flagships, but rather the Dutch manufacturer, who yesterday presented its new Philips OLED807 TV, a model that boasts OLED technology. Luckily, LG has given us hope, as they made it clear that “LG Display plans to strengthen its leadership and competitiveness in the large OLED market by integrating OLED.EX technology into all OLED TV displays manufactured at factories in Paju, South Korea and Guangzhou, China starting in the second quarter of 2022.

In this way, the next month of March or April should be when they start producing OLED.EX screens. Then, Are they going to launch an LG G2 with an Oled Evo screen and another version with an OLED.EX panel? Well, the truth is that it is not clear at all. But it makes a certain sense that they launch a first version and later a new more vitaminized model, as if it were a revision, which would have the latest LG technology.

In addition, the Korean manufacturer recently presented its latest financial results, where LG Display has managed to earn money from the sales of its OLED televisions. And within the press release that they published we saw a very interesting paragraph that says the following: «LG Display plans to apply its OLED.EX to all OLED TV panel series starting in the second quarter of 2022.”

If we read literally, LG has indicated that all OLED models of 2022 will have OLED.EX panels, but we know that this is almost impossible, since it would not make sense to launch an entry-level model, such as the LG OLED A2, with such a panel.

For this reason, we bet because, with total security, the LG G2 will come with an OLED.EX panel, regardless of whether a version with an OLED Evo panel hits the market first. Regarding the LG C2, it is most likely that it will also have OLED.EX technology.

Of course, the big difference between the LG G2 and the LG C2 is that the first model will have Brightness Booster, an anti-burn system that will avoid the dreaded retention and help further improve the brightness level by cooling the diodes. of the panel.

Thus, there are two models left to see: the LG B2 and A2. They are mid-range OLED televisions, so we highly doubt that the Korean firm will bet on an OLED Evo panel, much less its new OLED.EX technology. Therefore, the safest thing is that these two models maintain the same panel as last year with the occasional improvement.

Finally, it should be remembered that OLED.EX technology may be available on certain screen sizes. So that the 42-inch LG OLED C2 could lose this feature and simply use an OLED Evo panel.
