why was the digital game removed from the blinds?

The virtual version of the Pandemic board game has been removed from lists and stores, without anyone really knowing why.

Since the beginning of the year, there is a video game that is particularly discreet. So discreet, that in reality, it could disappear from a few online stores without even being noticed. It is Pandemic, the digital version of the hit board game released in 2008. Published by Asmodee in France, the title left Steam without a word on January 6, platform on which it was simply registered that it had been withdrawn at the request of the publisher.

Today, it simply no longer appears on the search page. This is obviously not the case with the physical board game, which is still available on the sites of many retailers. As a reminder, in Pandemic, “ you and your companions are part of an elite team battling four deadly diseases. Your team will travel around the world to hinder the spread of disease and develop the resources needed to discover cures. “A game in the taste of the news which may have ended up disturbing.

Asmodee plays the discretion card

Following this sudden and rather strange disappearance, a user decided to send a message to Asmodee, who ended up replying that Pandemic has been removed from the store for a multitude of reasons that we cannot disclose. In addition, we learn that the game will gradually be removed from all other digital stores by the end of the year. The company explains:

First, we want to thank you and all Pandemic players for your loyalty and support over time. We worked hard for 4 years on Pandemic and pulling the game from stores was not an easy choice. This decision was made with a heavy heart for a multitude of reasons that we cannot disclose. For now, only the PC, App Store and Google Play versions have been retired. The Microsoft version will follow on January 31, 2022, then the Nintendo Switch by the end of July 2022. »

Asmodee did not, however, go into detail about the famous “reasons” for this kidnapping, or even about what will happen to players who bought the title, still displayed at a price of € 19.99 on the Nintendo eShop. We therefore advise you not to offer it on the platforms mentioned by the company, who surely should have communicated via an official message to inform his players of his radical decision.
