Zac Efron and Russell Crowe’s Apple TV + Movie Expands Cast

Last March, Apple TV + acquired the rights to the film The Greatest Beer Run Ever, movie starring Zac Efron (The Great Showman) and Russell Crowe (Gladiator). From the date we had not had new news about this project until today.

According to the guys from Deadline, Apple Studios and Skydance have expanded the cast of this new production for Apple TV+ with the addition of Roby Ashbourne Serkis, Matt Cook, Omari K. Chancellor and Will Hocham.

This new film will be directed by Peter Farrelly, film director Green Book nominated for an Oscar in the category of best film. Farrelly has also collaborated on the script with Pete Jones and Brian Currie.

The Skydance studio is in production work through David Ellison, Don Granger and Dana Goldberg. The movie is based on the book The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A Memoir of Friendship, Loyalty and War, written by Chick Donahue and JT Molloy.

The story centers on Don “Chickie” Donahue, who traveled to Vietnam in the 1960s to find his friends who were in the combat area with the sole motivation of share a few drinks with your “childhood friends”.

According to Deadline, the 4 new actors who have joined the project, they already have their papers awarded:

  • Roby Ashbourne Serkis She will play Serkis, Donoahue’s older sister.
  • Matt cook plays Lieutenant Habershaw.
  • Omari K. Chancellor He will play the role of Rickson.
  • Will hocham plays Tommy Minogue, Donahue’s childhood friend.
