Acer has announced the launch of a new Aspire 3 series laptop, which stands out for the Ryzen Mendocino APUs that it uses as its hardware base.
Introduced last spring, the ‘Mendocino’ series are APUs intended for motorize high consumption laptops (or mini-PCs). They include CPU, GPU and memory controller in the same package and are manufactured by TSMC on a modern 6nm process node. Let’s remember that AMD chose to use the ZEN2 architecture and not the new ZEN3 for reasons of cost and consumption. AMD offers two chip options, Ryzen 3 7320U or Ryzen 5 7520U. Both are low-power APUs (15W), with a 4-core processor and 8 native processing threads, 6 Mbytes of cache, and integrated graphics.
