All the series (and the odd movie) paused due to the writers’ strike

severance characters

What a thing we have set up in Hollywood. The writers walk in strike and that can only mean one thing: endless filming postponed and with it, premieres postponed both in cinema like in streaming platforms. At a time when the audiovisual race is more frantic than ever, the consequences of these delays are huge. And it doesn’t look like it’s going to be fixed anytime soon…

The series on hiatus due to the strike

It is by no means the first writers’ strike of which we are aware in the industry, but perhaps one of the most likely to cause great havoc. As in 2017, the writers union has called an indefinite strike, something that 6 years ago resulted in 100 days of complete stoppage and countless delays in production releases.

In fact, some are already known consequences of this decision: there are series like Cobra Kai that they have not even started the work of the next season, while others like The Rings of Power either stranger things they have been left halfway: the first will finish filming without writers or showrunners, since they were in full swing when the strike began; the second, has directly slowed down the start of recording since although they have all the scripts written, they assure that they continue to need this work during filming (as is obvious), for which they have preferred to stop dead.

the rings of power

Put things like that, these are all the affected series for this strike (in alphabetical order):

  • American Horror Story: Delicate (FX)
  • Andor – season 2 (Disney+)
  • Big Mouth – season 8 (Netflix)
  • Cobra Kai – season 6 (Netflix)
  • Abbott College – Season 3 (ABC)
  • Daredevil: Born Again – (Disney+)
  • The Rings of Power – Season 2 (Amazon Prime Video)
  • Evil – season 4 (Paramount+)
  • Hacks – Season 3 (HBO)
  • Loot – Season 2 (Apple TV+)
  • Separation – Season 2 (Apple TV+)
  • Stranger Things’ – season 5 (Netflix)
  • The Last of Us – Season 2 (HBO)
  • Yellowjackets – season 3 (Showtime)

Marvel does not escape the strike either

Marvel Studios it seems that it does not finish “raising its head”. Just when it seemed that he was beginning to pick up pace again with his premieres on the big screen, a strike came and turned everything upside down again. And it is that, the screenwriters’ stoppage also affects the world of cinema, where we have already known that at least one UCM tape is going to have serious problems.

Marvel's Blade movie poster

Is about Blade, the reboot that will star Mahershala Ali and whose pre-production, since May 6, has been stopped until further notice. Remember that the release date of the film is November 3 of this year, which means that things are not looking good right now.

Therefore, we cannot rule out an upcoming announcement to move the release of the tape that could easily be placed as early as 2024 and completely break the company’s plans. What a ballot.
