We talked a few months ago about the possible sale of Asmodee by the current owners for a figure of around 2 billion euros.
According to a statement by Embracer Group, it seems that the Swedish holding is serious about buying the group Asmodee for a figure of approximately 2.75 billion euros!
We are not talking about the deal concluded, nor about definitive figures but, given the Embracer’s statement, it seems that the purchase can really materialize.
Asmodee may have found a buyer
The current ownership of the Asmodee group, which controls numerous publishing houses and design studios in the world of board games, is the PAI Partners investment fund. The last change of hands of the French group was only 3 years ago, in 2018, for a figure of approximately 1.2 billion euros.
Embracer Group $ EMBRAC intends to make a strategic acquisition of Asmodee (Financière Amuse Topco), a world-leading board gaming group, for € 2,75 billion!

Looking instead in the direction of the (possible) new ownership, Embracer specializes in video games, having acquired numerous video game development houses in recent years. Among the best known products of the companies directly controlled by the Swedish group, we find Deep Rock Galactic, Snow Runner and World War Z. If the acquisition of Asmodee were to be successful, Embracer would become the largest European holding in the play sector.
In the document presenting the possible acquisition, Embracer spoke of the (exorbitant, no doubt about it) figure indicated as the starting point of the negotiations; moreover, again according to the press release, the current CEO of Asmodee, Stéphane Carville, will maintain their current position together with their management team. In short, a winning team does not change! In the previous article we had in fact told you about how Asmodee, driven by the whole board games sector, has had a steady growth in recent years.
What will change for us, “simple” players? Again, probably nothing we can tell by moving miniatures and placing cubes. Whatever the Asmodee group is doing, they are doing it well.
