ASUS Vivobook S 16 Flip, in the elite of consumer convertibles

ASUS continues to update its PC catalog for 2023 and to the good number of presentations that we saw at CES, with the ROG Zephyrus and Strix series gaming laptops as protagonists, now adds a Vivobook S 16 Flip that stands in its own right among the elite of consumer convertibles.

ASUS offers two screens to choose from, one IPS FHD and a spectacular second OLED with 16 inches diagonally, with 3.2K native resolution (3200 x 2000 pixels) in a 16:10 aspect ratio (which in our opinion is ideal for a laptop) and a refresh rate of 120hz. The screen is coated with a Corning Gorilla Glass NBT layer for greater resistance to scratches and fingerprints and is of course multitouch, with optional support for an optional ASUS Pen 2.0 stylus, MPP 2.0 with 4096 pressure levels. The manufacturer does not forget about eye care and is certified by SGS and TÜV Rheinland against blue light emissions. It also features a color sensor that detects ambient light levels and automatically adjusts brightness and color temperature to achieve the best image for the environment, plus an auto-dimming function that helps maximize the life of the OLED panel. .

A screen delight in an 86% ratio body and in a premium metal chassis of only 19.6 mm thick and 1.9 kg in weight, which is not bad for a convertible of this size. As we said at the beginning, the versatility of the model (laptop, tablet, presentations…) is offered by a 360° hinge designed that, according to the manufacturer, has been tested to withstand more than 20,000 opening and closing cycles.

Its internal hardware has been conveniently upgraded and ASUS offers Intel’s latest generation Raptor Lake processors, with models to choose from up to a Core 13900H with 14 cores that will allow any type of task. It includes an integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and is accompanied by up to 16 Gbytes of RAM memory and a 1 Tbyte PCIe SSD for mass storage. The manufacturer has beefed up the cooling system with 8mm heat pipes and an IceBlade fan.

The Vivobook S 16 Flip is equipped with a full-size ASUS ErgoSense keyboard and a powerful Touchpad with a width of 13 cm. Its audio system is certified by the specialist Harman Kardon, supports Dolby Atmos and has the manufacturer’s technologies to simulate multi-channel sound, 3D audio and noise cancellation that filters ambient noise for optimum quality in video calls from your webcam.

It supports the latest standards in wireless connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, and has a good number of ports, USB 3.2, HDMI 2.1 and an audio jack. Finally, highlight its ecological proposal since 30% of the equipment is made of recycled plastics (PCR) and the box where it is distributed is 100% recyclable. With Windows 11 Pro or Home, it will be available soon on the ASUS portal. We do not know price, but here we have a good example of the latest generation convertible for consumption.
