Audyssey ACM1-X: new microphone to calibrate MultEQ-X on Denon and Marantz AV receivers

In late December of last year, Audyssey announced that Marantz and Denon AV receivers will receive support for the MultEQ-X acoustic correction system. Now the company has just introduced the ACM1-X, a microphone that has been designed and calibrated to work perfectly with its acoustic correction software.

As they have declared from the company, this new Audyssey ACM1-X microphone It will allow you to take measurements equivalent to those of a class 1 reference microphone. In case you did not know, these are the microphones used in professional sound level measurement devices that are considered to be of a precision grade.

Unlike other Class 2 microphones, they offer wider tolerance levels at the higher and lower ends of the frequency spectrum for a more accurate overall response.

Note that each microphone has been individually calibrated in the company’s laboratories in Los Angeles to get the best results. In addition, they have a unique serial number and their own calibration file.

With this, MultEQ-X users who purchase an ACM1-X microphone can log in to MultEQ-X and, by selecting the ‘Add New Microphone’ option, enter their microphone’s serial number so that the program takes care of automatically downloading the microphone calibration file.

Yes indeed, At the moment the ACM1-X microphone will only work with MultEQ-X, Audyssey’s enhanced software, thus partially limiting Denon and Marantz AV receivers that will be able to use this new tool to more accurately calibrate their sound equipment.

MultEQ-X is intended to compete at the high end (where Anthem’s Dirac and ARC had taken a big lead) among professionals and enthusiasts who want to get the best possible audio quality and correct as many anomalies as possible with equalization. Finally, The new Audyssey ACM1-X microphone has just been released on the market at a price of $80.

In case you didn’t know Audyssey, say that it is a company made up of designers and engineers who love sound. Thus, in 2002 they created Audyssey Laboratories, based in the United States, and specialized in technologies focused on solving acoustic problems of sound reproduction systems that are commonly used in studios, cinemas, homes and cars.

Since then this company has been presenting different sound technologies that overcome the acoustic limitations found in audio systems. The secret is to achieve a perfect equalization (adjustment of the balance between the frequency components) to offer a more pleasant acoustic landscape for the listener.
