Canadian manufacturer Biktrix has developed one of the most powerful e-bike motors on the market. We are not likely to see the XD anytime soon on our roads due to legislation, despite all this does not prevent us from taking a look.
The reputation of the manufacturer Biktrix is well established: the Canadian company is one of the world’s leading specialists in very fast electric bikes! Until now, the company equipped its two wheels with the Bafang M620 Ultra engine, a monster in its category. But Biktrix now wants to play its own score, with an engine entirely developed in-house, the XD.
Up to 50 km/h and more
The problem with these high horsepower motors is that they tend to quickly damage the chain and the gears placed on the rear wheel. The Bafang M620 Ultra produces 1,000 W per day, with peaks at 1,500 W, causing high-speed wear of the most exposed parts of the bike.
The Biktrix XD being even more powerful with its 2,000 W and more, the manufacturer had to develop a quota infrastructure, in this case it is a second rear wheel drive chain connected directly to the engine. ! The first chain is devoted to the movements of the cyclist on the pedals.
There is therefore on one side the power developed by the cyclist, and on the other the power produced by the motor, the transmission of which is ensured by a set of components specially designed for this purpose. The risk of breakage is therefore much lower.
This new engine is integrated into the Juggernaut XD, a bike capable of exceeding 50 km/h. The vehicle has 10 speeds and a 48V or 52V battery with a capacity of 25 Ah, approximately 1,300 Wh. It will be released this summer, priced at $5,999.
