Bouygues Telecom announces the official arrival of WiFi 6E in its Bbox on April 25, 2022

Bouygues Telecom has just formalized the launch of WiFi 6E in its Bbox Ultym. The modem retains the same design as when it was launched in early 2020, but now incorporates the very latest technology authorized by ARCEP. The operator thus cuts the quid to Orange, which plans to unveil its new WiFi 6 compatible Livebox tomorrow.

This is a surprise announcement from Bouygues Telecom, while its competitor Orange is preparing to unveil its new Livebox 6 tomorrow. In a press release, the operator states the imminent arrival of WiFi 6E in its Internet offer. As expected, only customers Bbox ultym Fiberwhich is Bouygues’ most expensive subscription at €28.99/month, will be able to take advantage of it.

A few months after the authorization granted by ARCEP, Bouygues Telecom is therefore the first to offer the technology within its offerings. In reality, it was only a matter of time since the operator started rolling out WiFi 6E to a few lucky users in preview. From the April 25, 2022all ultym Fiber subscribers will be able to benefit from it.

Thereby, the high-end Bbox will become tribandadding the 6 GHz band of WiFi 6E to the existing 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. “Our ambition is to offer quality networks to everyone, and we know that WiFi is a key element in the digital lives of our customers”underlines Benoit Torloting, managing director of Bouygues Telecom.

On the design side, nothing changes since it is the same modem launched in early 2020 by the operator. It therefore retains its vertical shape which allows it to limit interference with the 8 antennas, in order to improve coverage within the home. Thus, the novelty is above all technological, by bringing reduced latency and interference thanks to WiFi 6E.

Note also that this surprise announcement certainly does not come out of nowhere. Bouygues Telecom certainly wanted steal the limelight from Orangewhich has been teasing for several days the arrival of WiFi 6 in its new Livebox.
