We work with all kinds of images to use them in multiple tasks, either locally on the PC or over the Internet. Whether they are our own or from third parties, sometimes we need to carry out certain basic tweaks to improve them. Something very common is trying to remove the background from these photos, so we are going to help you achieve it easily.
Many times we need to extract a certain object or a person from an image as soon as possible to use it in another graphic project, or to share it. As a general rule, this is something that we achieve in a more or less simple way with certain programs focused on editing these files. Surely many of you use software solutions from the potential of Adobe photoshop either GIMP. There are also many other simpler programs that will help us in this type of task, even some from the browser.
But next we are going to talk about a much faster and more accessible solution that will allow you to do without complicated photo editors like the aforementioned Photoshop. In fact, a program that we would not have imagined at first could be extremely useful for these tasks. It is an office application that most of you have installed on your PC and that is part of the Microsoft suite, office. Specifically, we are referring to the popular spreadsheet application, Excel.
How to remove the background of a photo in Excel
The first thing you should know is that this is an office program that, in addition to numerical data, allows you to work with many other types. For example, we can insert graphics, tables or even images.
The latter is the type of content that really interests us in these lines since Excel even offers some basic editing tools. Among these we can find a functionality that allows us to remove background from photos quickly and easily. For all this that we tell you, the first thing we must do is load the image as such in any Excel spreadsheet. From there, all you have to do is access the menu Insert / Illustrations / Images from its main interface.
Once we have the image on the screen loaded in the office software, point to it so that the Image Format menu option appears. Thus, on the left side of the functions that we see, we find the one we are looking for in this case, precisely called Remove background in the form of a button.
By default, the program’s own functionality tries to detect the background of the image and marks it with a visible pinkish color. But we also find two buttons to mark or remove areas and thus control the elimination of this background as much as possible and leave only the part of the photo that interests us. We will make all these changes in a simple way with the mouse pointer and without the need to have knowledge in the image edition.
Once the process is finished, all we have to do is click with the right button on the resulting photo and choose the option Save Image As.
