Free offers its OQEE Cine subscribers free of charge, a video streaming service accessible from any Freebox, but not only… Offering a French and international catalog of films and series, here is everything you need to know about this new service .
Free is known for having democratized the Internet in France. Just that. A concrete example : the Freebox was the first triple-play offer all inclusive with unlimited Internet, television and telephony. From then on, all the operators followed in the footsteps of the French Net Troublemaker: Neufbox, SFRBox, Livebox, BBox, etc. A real revolution at the time which today allows France to benefit from one of the cheapest Internet access in Europe.

Faced with competition, Free has enhanced its Freebox offer over the years, increasing the number of international destinations included, expanding the range of TV channels. Free was the first to systematically provide PLC with these Boxes to facilitate the connection between the router and the decoder. And it is one of the few to include in its offers wifi repeaters. Recently, the firm also announced Free Ligue 1, which provides free access to the highlights of all Ligue 1 matches.
Last initiative of the operator: OQEE Ciné. This is an on-demand video streaming offer that includes series and films. This is not the first time that an access provider has launched an SVOD service. The most glaring example is OCS, launched by Orange in 2008. But OQEE is different, since it is included in the subscription. The inclusion of a streaming offer in a subscription is not a first either: Prime Video is an SVOD service included in the offer AmazonPrime. On the other hand, OQEE Ciné is the first to be offered free of charge by an ISP to its subscribers.
Who are the users authorized to access OQEE Ciné. How is the service funded? What screens are compatible with the service? And above all, what programs are available in the catalog? This dossier aims to answer all these questions.
OQEE Cine, what is it?
OQEE Ciné is an SVOD service, i.e. streaming video on demand, like Netflix, Prime Vidéo or Disney+. OQEE Ciné therefore stands out from other content accessible from the OQEE TV application: it is neither linear television like traditional channels, nor a catch-up television service like MyTF1, France.tv or M6 Replay.
OQEE Ciné allows you to watch series and movies, like all other SVOD services. The contents are updated regularly to enrich the catalog. Unlike Disney+, Paramount+ or HBO Max, this service is not integrated with other more general platforms, such as Apple TV+, Canal+ Series or Prime Video. How much does OQEE Cine cost
Access to OQEE Ciné is totally free for Freebox subscribers. No content requires additional payment. The service is ad-supported. At the start of a program, the subscriber must therefore view one or two advertisements, as on Amazon’s Prime Video. There are also commercial breaks during the films. The number of advertisements to be viewed depends on the content.
OQEE Cine is reserved for Freebox subscribers. There is no constraint on the Freebox adopted by the user: all customers can access OQEE Ciné, whether they are tenants of a Freebox Revolution, a Freebox Pop or a Freebox Delta. On the other hand, the service is not not available for Free Mobile customers who do not have a Freebox. The service was made official on March 7, 2023. It is available the same day to all Free subscribers.
OQEE Ciné: which platforms are compatible?
The OQEE Ciné service is a service accessible from all platforms where the OQEE TV application is available. This includes :
- Freebox Pop, Révolution and Delta (with the Devialet player)
- A television under Android TV or Google TV (Sony Bravia type)
- A Samsung smart TV
- An Apple TV box, available from Free or Apple
- An Android TV multimedia box
- Smartphones and tablets running iOS (12.2 or higher) and Android (7.0 or higher)
- Web browsers (Chrome, Safari, etc.)
Unlike Netflix, there is no no constraint on the number of users connected simultaneously on OQEE Cine. You can connect to it at the same time from a connected television, a Freebox and a tablet. Likewise, you can connect to the service on the go. Simply connect to the service (from the web or an application) with your Freebox credentials. Access is available in France and in the European Union. On the other hand, it becomes inaccessible beyond.
What films and series are available on OQEE Ciné?
OQEE Cine is a streaming service dedicated to series and moviesunlike Prime Video which integrates sports programs (Ligue 1, Roland Garros, etc.), documentaries (Ici c’est Paris, Orelsan Never show that to anyone, Guy Roux, etc.) and entertainment (LOL Qui rit fate, etc.) OQEE Ciné is therefore opting for a tighter catalogue.
At launch, Free does not fund any content. There is therefore no no exclusivity in its offer, unlike almost all of the competing platforms which stand out thanks to the series and films they produce. Consequence: there is no very recent film in the catalog.
The service catalog counts 300 different contents on March 7, 2023, but the operator announces that it wants to update the catalog every month. The catalog includes French and international productions, in the main genres of the 7th art. The whole family is concerned, since American blockbusters rub shoulders with animated films, romantic comedies and even thrillers.
The films of OQEE Ciné are arranged in nine sections, some films being available in several categories:

OQEE Ciné series are arranged differently. Each has its own dedicated section with direct access to each season. Here are the series available on OQEE Ciné:

- Install the app (available on the AppStore and PlayStore) from an iPhone (iOS 12.2 or higher), an iPad (iPadOS 12.2 or higher), an Android smartphone or tablet (Android 7.0 or higher required), a television running Android TV / Google TV (Sony for example) or a Samsung Smart TV.
- If you go through a web browser, log in at www.oqee.tv. Then the procedure is the same.
- Launch the app (or the site) and connect with your Freebox login and password.
- The synchronization of OQEE TV user accounts is automatic. If no account exists, create one.
- Once the general interface is accessible, click on ” Browse » at the bottom of the interface, then on the button « VOD present under the search tab. In this section, you have access to all VOD content, paid or free.
- In category ” Our services », choose ” OQEE Cinema “. You then have access to all the content of Free’s free SVOD service.
If you use an Apple TV purchased from Free, you do not need to log into your account to access OQEE TV and OQEE Cine content: you are automatically authenticated using your Freebox (Pop or Delta only). It’s convenient, but you can’t take this Apple TV on vacation.
Please note that the search engine in the “browse” tab of OQEE TV does not cover all the films and series present on OQEE Ciné. The results are not yet exhaustive. But it should become so over time. Like the competition, the films are offered in VO and VF: a menu is accessible during viewing to change the language of the dubbing or subtitles. If you have a compatible sound system, some movies are offered with 5.1 sound (if the original content supported it).
