Among them, one of the big surprises has been The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Errant Knighta new series based on the universe of Game of ThronesBut what exactly is it about? what book is it based on? And who are its protagonists?
The errant knight, the next GoT
We all had our eyes on Snow, the next spin-off of Game of Thrones (GoT) in which we are told how life is going for the banished Jon Snow, so we did not expect that Max, the new platform that will replace HBO Max, would announce another series from the GoT universe that has nothing to do with the story of Aegon Targaryen .
Therefore, our surprise has been even greater when we know that we have Game of Thrones for a while since the project of The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Errant Knighta series that stands 100 years before of the events of the successful production of George RR Martin and that will help to give us more context about what happens between the house of the dragon and the beginning of the troubles that we know between the Stark, Targaryen and Lannister families.
The “news” is not really new: already in 2021, the medium Variety leaked that work was being done on this adaptation, but after the silence of HBO and the passage of time, many fans forgot about the story, thinking that perhaps (and like many other projects) it had been kept in a drawer for life.
Nothing is further from reality. Although there is still no date or cast announced, the wandering knight It’s already official and with that we all begin to rub our hands with this prequel that will revolve around two protagonists: Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, known in the books as Dunk and Egg. Because yes, the great fans of the American writer know that there is life beyond the main GoT saga and they surely know the books related to these two entertaining characters.
The Tales of Dunk and Egg
The Tales of Dunk and Egg: The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms it is a prequel to the saga Song of ice and fireset one hundred years before the events that begin Game of Thrones. In his short novels, as we mentioned, we meet Ser Duncan the Tall, a young and honorable knight-errant who travels Westeros in search of adventure. On the other hand we have Egg, a mysterious young man who becomes Dunk’s squire (and whose true identity is much more important than you think), embarking on a series of adventures in a world full of political intrigue, betrayal and defiance.
In total they are three the published books: “The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”, “The Mysterious Knight” and “The Fevre Dream”.
It is still unknown which actors will give life to these protagonists as well as any other details of the cast. What we do know is that the screenwriter of the house of the dragonIra Parker, will be part of this new project along with George RR Martin himself, of course.
On release datewe have no clue, although we imagine that we will not be talking about a next arrival until at least well into 2024. It is time to be patient.
