DLSS 3 Coming to Forza Horizon 5

A few weeks ago, during GCD 2023, NVIDIA confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 would soon receive an update that would allow the use of the exclusive functions of DLSS 3. Let’s remember that the game, which was one of our chosen ones (specifically my partner Juan’s) as the best game of the year 2021, is not an advanced simulation proposal, as we can find in Forza. The Forza Horizon saga offers us a more arcade approach in which speed is combined with spectacular environments on a map that you can explore from start to finish.

The version of Forza Horizon 5 for PC has support for DLSS 2 since the beginning of November last year and, according to NVIDIA data, four out of five gamers with an RTX GPU have enabled this feature to take advantage of the more than remarkable performance improvement provided by the AI-based rescaling system. This is important in practically any type of game, but it is directly priceless in titles like this, in which speed and graphic quality must go hand in hand.

So, as you can see in the table below, the difference between enabling DLSS 3 or not when playing Forza Horizon 5 at maximum graphics settings on a GeForce RTX 4090-equipped system is no less than 70.8 frames per second, as we see a jump from 118.3 to 189.1. With an RTX 4080 the increase is 51.1 frames per second, while if we use an RTX 4070 TI we will get about 47 more frames per second.

DLSS 3 support also comes at a particularly ideal time, since coincides with the publication, tomorrow Wednesday March 29, of the Rally Adventure expansion, an expansion that will take the festival from the comfortable and reliable paved roads, to an environment full of dirt, mud, rocks and all kinds of natural elements. In this context, the improvement in image quality and frame rate per second offered by NVIDIA technology can make a significant difference in the enjoyment of the experience, since the better quality and greater fluidity, the more immersive the experience will be.

Let’s remember that Forza Horizon 5 is a game that can run well on “humble” teams, but is extremely demanding if we want to make use of the most advanced graphics modes. DLSS 2 support democratized access to them for all users of GeForce RTX graphics adapters, and now with the jump to DLSS 3 it will be the lucky owners of an RTX 40-series graphics card who will be able to make a huge qualitative leap when playing to the funniest driving arcade of recent times.
