To activate playback in a floating window, the first thing we must do is start playing the video and then click on the extension button. At that moment, the video will begin to be displayed in a window in the lower right corner of our computer, a window that we can move to any part of the screen, change the size and also allows us to control the playback to pause it, continue playback , skip to the next or previous video. We can also make use of keyboard shortcut Alt+P if we don’t want to use the extension button.
Picture in Picture – PiP View
Another interesting option available in the Chrome extension store is Picture in Picture – PiP View. This extension works in the same way as the one created by Google. To start playing a video in a floating window, we just have to start playing it and click on the extension icon. However, it does not work through a direct shortcut as if offered by Google. With this extension, we can play any video in a floating window on any web platform, not just from youtube. If we want to stop playing the video in a separate window, we just have to place the mouse over the window and click on the X at the top right.
Simple PiP
Simple PiP is another option to take into account if we want to continue enjoying YouTube videos and any other platform in a floating window above all the applications that we have open on our computer. It is also capable of playing videos embedded in web pages any web page, so we can also use it on social networks and to play videos from any web page that is not necessarily a platform dedicated to videos.
Like the two previous extensions, to start showing a video in a floating window, we just have to start playing the video and then click on the extension button, this being the only method to activate it as it is not compatible natively with no keyboard shortcut.
