Google has just rolled out the March 2023 software update for its Pixel Watch, its first connected watch. With this patch, the manufacturer brings various fixes and improvements, as well as expected features such as fall detection.

Just a week ago, Google confirmed the impending rollout of the March 2023 software update to its Pixel Watch, its first-ever smartwatch. Well, that’s it, its broadcast began this Tuesday, March 21and the manufacturer took the opportunity to publish the full patch note.

All supported Pixel Watch devices running Wear OS 3.5 will receive these software updates starting today. The rollout will continue over the next week in phases depending on carrier and device. Users will receive a notification as soon as the OTA is available”, writes Google in an official blog post.

The March 2023 update for the Pixel Watch is finally here

This update brings many fixes, as well as various improvements and some new features. But without further ado, let’s take stock together:

  • Watch Faces : The digital clock is now available by pressing a button when the device is off. The time is displayed by pressing the crown, next to the red low battery indicator.
  • It is now possible activate the watch screen by turning the crown
  • Optimizations have been made to improve touchscreen sensitivity
  • Mono-audio makes its debutas well as new color correction modes and grayscale to further customize the display

Corrected alarm delays and fall detection

In its paper, Google also specifies that a patch will be deployed in the coming weeks for the Clock application. Indeed, we have mentioned in our columns problems with the alarm of the Pixel Watch, which simply rings late. Visibly, the manufacturer is working on resolving this issue.

Finally, and better late than never as the saying goes, Google is finally integrating fall detection on its Pixel Watch. The Mountain View company had confirmed the arrival of this functionality at the beginning of March.

In the event of a fall by the user, the watch will check the user’s status after 30 seconds of immobility and will automatically contact emergency services after one minute. When a fall is detected, a menu will appear on the screen from which you can ask for help or, on the contrary, declare that you are fine. This feature can be activated in the Personal Safety application.
