Final Fantasy IX of Square Enix officially debuted on PlayStation in 2000 and, now, 21 years after its arrival on the Sony console and almost 6 million copies sold, the game (as loved as it is criticized by fans) will see the arrival of a animated series.
An animated series of Final Fantasy IX is coming
The Japanese video game company announced in these hours that it will work closely with Cyber Group Studios, the Paris-based animation studio, for the development and co-production of this exciting new project.
The series will be specifically aimed at an audience of children between the ages of 8 and 13. Cyber Group Studios will not only produce the series, but will also be responsible for managing and overseeing the worldwide distribution, licensing and merchandising process of this new collaboration.
Unfortunately, the information regarding the new series stops here, with Pierre Sissmann, CEO of Cyber Group Studios, who explained in an official note that the company’s goal is to start production on the show by the end of 2021 or, at the latest, early 2022.
With over 150 million copies sold worldwide, the Final Fantasy franchise is poised to expand further into new media, leaving behind a photorealistic feature entirely generated in CGI, the first of its kind.
