We already have the requirements for Starfield, one of Bethesda’s most anticipated games and one of the great exclusives that will come to Xbox Series S-Series X and PC. I am sure that you will remember that last March I shared with you an estimate of these requirements, and in the end the final requirements have been higher than expected.
It’s completely normal for Starfield’s requirements to be high, because after all this is going to be an exclusive game for the current generation of consoles and PC. However, it must be taken into account that the minimum base, the minimum hardware, is Xbox Series S, and that this console has a GPU that, in raw performance, It does not reach the level of a Radeon RX 6500 XTso I think the official requirements are somewhat inflated.
Nevertheless, we will have to wait to try Starfield to be able to draw conclusions about the real state of optimization of the game, and also about its final graphic quality, although from what we have been able to see in the last scenes with real play that Bethesda has shown, it looks really good.
Starfield Minimum Requirements
- Windows 10 version 22H2.
- Ryzen 5 2500X or Intel Core i7-6800K processor. There is an equivalence error, the first has 4 cores and 8 threads, the second 6 cores and 12 threads. The correct thing would be an Intel Core i7-6700.
- 16GB of RAM.
- Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card. For raw power, the most correct equivalence to the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti would be a Radeon RX 5600 XT.
- DirectX 12.
- Requires an SSD with 125 GB of free space.
With these settings it should be possible to play on 1080p with low quality or maybe low-medium qualitywhile maintaining a relatively stable rate of 30 FPS.
Starfield Recommended Requirements
- Windows 10 version 22H2.
- Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i5-10600K processor. Six cores and twelve threads.
- 16GB of RAM.
- Radeon RX 6800 XT or GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card. Here we have another serious equivalence error, since a Radeon RX 6800 XT is equivalent, in rasterization, to a GeForce RTX 3080. If we take the GeForce RTX 2080 as a minimum, the closest equivalence it would be a Radeon RX 6650 XT.
- DirectX 12.
- Requires an SSD with 125 GB of free space.
With this configuration the game should work without problem in 1440p with maximum quality and total fluidity, and in 4K adjusting graphic quality, since we are talking about two graphics cards that are much more powerful than the one used by Xbox Series X.
I remind you that Starfield will arrive on September 6and which can already be pre-purchased on Steam.
