Free Mobile: beware of this SMS, it is a phishing attempt!

Free Mobile subscribers are once again the target of an SMS phishing campaign. Indeed, a fraudulent message is currently being sent to users of the operator. Claiming a limitation of your account for security issues, you are invited to click on a link. Of course, the purpose of the maneuver is the same: to obtain your personal and banking information.

Phishing remains a method particularly appreciated by hackers and scammers of all stripes. Easy to set up, phishing campaigns allow effortlessly obtain personal and/or banking information. It is generally sufficient to pretend to be an operator, a brand, a public institution, and to rely on the credulity of the least informed users to acquire the much desired data.

We remember, for example, this false summons from the police, or even this phishing campaign launched against Amazon Prime subscribers. This time, it is the turn of Free Mobile users to be the target of a phishing attempt. As user VacheGTI reveals on Twitter, a false message supposedly from the operator is currently being sent to Free Mobile subscribers.

Free Mobile subscribers still targeted by a phishing campaign

This is what it says: “Free – your Free account has been temporarily limited for security reasons: confirm your information within 24 hours – Link: supports-tel.com”. As you can see, the message is completely devoid of emphasis, a detail that may arouse your suspicions as to its legitimacy.

Of course, by clicking on the link contained in the SMS, you will be redirected to an input window in which you will have to enter your username and password. Of course, this data will be recovered by the scammers who can use it to connect without your knowledge to your Free Mobile account. The goal is to recover your saved banking information.

As a reminder, this is the second phishing campaign to hit Free Mobile subscribers since the beginning of January 2022. The method was similar: a fake SMS asking you to identify yourself following suspicious activity on your account.
