The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is getting a new security update. After the recent release of the One UI 4.0 version of the Samsung overlay, it’s the turn of a security patch. Samsung continues to look after its newborn’s predecessor, the S21 FE. However, it is still a very gradual deployment.
Just because the Galaxy S21 FE just came out doesn’t mean Samsung is going to neglect technical support for its predecessor, the Galaxy S20 FE. The latter was released in October 2020. But it continues to receive updates very regularly. It must be said that the smartphone is a model that has met with good commercial success, thanks to nice balance between price and specs. The latter is largely inspired by that of the Galaxy S20, even if, it must be admitted, some concessions have been made to make the S20 FE more affordable.
The January 2022 Android security patch is coming to the Galaxy S20 FE
No respite therefore at the level of technical support, since the smartphone is currently benefiting from an update campaign. It relates to only 5G version. And the firmware is numbered G781BXXS4DVA2. This is a corrective and non-functional update. In particular, it brings Android security patch dated January 2022.
The update is obviously progressive, but it already concerns a good part of Europe. Among the countries emptied in the first wave, we find France, as well as Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and the Czech Republic.
A very gradual deployment, like that of One UI 4.0
If you own a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G and you live in one of these countries, you can therefore perform this update. Of course, you will be notified of availability through a message from the operating system. However, if you don’t have the patience to wait, you can of course force the firmware search on Samsung’s servers. To do this, simply open the menu Settings on your phone, then go to the ” Software update » and select « Download and install if it appears.

This update is before corrective, because the Galaxy S20 FE recently received a major functional update. Indeed, Samsung started in early January 2022 updating the smartphone to One UI 4.0, the interface based on Android 12 and inspired by that of the iPhone. As always, its deployment is gradual. For our part, we have still not received it at the editorial office. It has so far only been seen in a few countries, including the United States.
