GIGABYTE Announces New Liquid Cooled Servers

The well-known GIGABYTE assembler has introduced two new high-performance liquid-cooled servers, designed to handle demanding tasks and equipped with the most advanced components in the industry. Both models start from the same base but they have, as we will see below, different specifications.

The GIGABYTE G262-ZL0 is the more modest of the two, as it has a configuration of 4 NVIDIA A100 graphics accelerators, based on Ampere and designed to offer great power in GPU computing, and also with loads of artificial intelligence and deep learning, thanks to its tensor core block, a hardware specialized in said tasks. Each NVIDIA A100 graphics accelerator has 80 GB of graphics memory.

On the CPU side, this model comes with two AMD EPYC 7003 processorsbased on the Zen 3 architecture, has 16 slots for DDR4 memory at a maximum of 3,200 MHz and is ready to connect to a liquid cooling system, as can be seen in the cover image.

The GIGABYTE G492-ZL2 model positions itself at a clearly higher level, both for connectivity options and for the hardware configuration it comes with. It keeps the two AMD EPYC 7003 processors, but brings the total number of NVIDIA A100 graphics accelerators to eight units, which means it doubles the raw GPU computing power and also the included graphics memory. Each NVIDIA A100 accelerator has 80 GB of graphics memory, as in the previous model, so in this case we have a total of 640 GB of VRAM.

This version also features an integrated liquid cooling system that covers key components, offering 32 slots for RAM memory at a maximum of 3,200 MHz. The connectivity options are also superior, and obviously it has a more powerful power system, and with redundancy, to be able to power such a powerful configuration.

Unfortunately, we don’t have details on the exact price of these new servers, but it’s clear that it will be high. If you are wondering why GIGABYTE used a liquid cooling system, the answer is very simple, because this offers greater heat dissipation capacity, that is to say, it is much more effective than the classic passive systems, and offers a better balance in terms of balance between peak performance, stability and working temperatures. Keep in mind that both servers come ready to connect to an existing liquid cooling system, so if we do not have one we will have to purchase it.
